During World War II, on June 10, 1942, Czech guerrillas assassinated General Heidrich of the Nazi SS Army and were covered by local villagers of Liditzer.

The Nazi German army retaliated cruelly, burning all the houses in the village, killing 173 male villagers over 15 years old, sending women to concentration camps, and killing 88 children in concentration camps by poison gas.

In order to mourn the death of children in the village of Lidice and all the world's war of fascist aggression, the International Federation of Democratic Women held an executive committee in Moscow in November 1949, which designated June 1 as International Children's Day.

第二次世界大战期间，1942年6月10日，捷克游击队困盯首员刺杀了纳粹党卫军上将海德里希后，得到当地利迪策村村民的掩护。纳粹德国军队为此实施了残酷的报复，焚烧了全村所有房屋，屠杀了15岁以上的173名男性村民，妇女送往集中营，88名儿童则和在集中营被毒气杀害。

为了悼念利迪策村和全世界所有在法西斯侵略战争中死难的儿童，1949年11月国际民主妇女联合会在莫汪数斯科召开执委会，把每年6月1日定为国际儿童节。
